Star Magnolia (Small)

Besides opening and closing the petals, each petal can be modeled individually, celebrating change as one of the main characteristics of our nature. A brass hummingbird comes to drink from the flower’s nectar.

The decorative cuttings, made with a little hand saw, in the top part, combined with the upward directed spot, casts a mandala on the ceiling. We finished the sanded glass burb cover with a twisted wire and refined our top parts (as shown in the separate picture).

The large fuchsia flower showcases the CARESSE-Green fabric combination. The wavy fluid flower motive embroidery is combined with the MAGIC fabrics in silver tones. All of the petals are finished with a stitched silver sfifa border.

The Flowers of Lights  are the fruits of our close collaboration with independent artisan ateliers in Marrakesh. The creation of the petals and finishing touch and quality control of all the different elements is done in-house at the Sakura Living atelier.

The tuning and final check of your flower light is done by the artist himself in collaboration with your inputs.

Materials used (all materials are sourced locally): 

• Brass (alloy of copper and zinc) for the top parts and interior of the Flower of Light.
• Glass: we use sanded glass for the light bulb cover.
• Cedar wood: the heart of each light is made out of the traditionally used cedar wood.
• Luxury fabrics from in collaboration with the Moroccan brand Madurel.
• Accessories used in traditional Moroccan clothing and interior furnishing. 

Traditional techniques used: 

Different traditional techniques are integrated through-out the design. These techniques include brass cuttings with a hand saw and marquetry, wood carvings for the heart of the light in cedar wood.

The petals are made of galvanized metal wire and decorated with luxury fabrics. They are stitched and finished with a golden lining of Sfifa threads.

Many hands are part of this process of co-creation and all this diversity combined, results in all unique expressions of light. It is a celebration of our human nature. 

Every Flower of Light is carefully protected and packaged for shipping in a hand-made wooden box, containing the following items:

• Your mounted Flower of Light with closed petals in a cotton protective bag.
• The sanded glass light bulb cover.
• A matched (with size) ceiling rosette out of brass and 1,5m of traditional chain.
• 2 light bulbs (1 led spot, already mounted in the top part) + 1 led light bulb.
• 2 meters of electrical wire.
• A brass hummingbird and transparent fishing line for easy mounting.
• Two extra decorative pillows with the same fabric combination as your Flower of Light.
• The Sakura guide; “Adopting the Sakura Lifestyle”.

Each Flower of Light has the Sakura Living stamp of authenticity (hummingbird) on the top part.

Once you have selected the type of flower (Fuchsia, Star of Bethlehem or the Star Magnolia), and the size you prefer, you can select your choice of fabric combination. Each flower is currently available in 8 harmonized fabric combinations. Each flower presented in the shop, showcases a different fabric combination. 

Besides picking your favorite fabric combination, the shape of each flower can be changed. The petals of each flower can be opened, closed and even individually shaped to tune each light for a personal touch and flavor. Different shapes and tunings bring a different flavor into the environment. From more stylish and abstract, to more natural and romantic.   

The design and technical realization allows for the co-creation of an unlimited variety of flowers by changing the top part, the number of petals, their shape and style and colors of fabrics.

Installation:

The simplicity of the design, together with the handmade ceiling rosette provide for easy installation of your Flower of Light. The traditional chain can easily be adjusted to your desired length. 

Your Flower of Light comes completely assembled (the led spot in the top part is already mounted). Both the light bulb and led spot can easily be changed if needed.   

Maintenance: 

Your Flower of Light does not require any maintenance. We are proud to present you a maintenance free, high quality work of art, while honoring the tradition of artisanal manual labor. 

The brass top part is aged, giving it the authentic look and feel. After inspection, all of the brass elements are spray-finished with a high quality, high transparent varnish. This protect the brass from oxidation and coloration, while maintaining transparency and the glossy finish. It also protects all of the artisanal craftsmanship. 

The sanded glass cover for the light bulb received the same treatment, but only on the outside, to maintain the white sanded effect and function.

This exceptional attention for detail results in a maintenance free, all handmade, luxuries interior decoration. It is unseen in the artisan community.

Care: 

In dusty environments, the petals of your Flower Light can easily be dusted off with a moist cloth or a traditional duster. No other care is needed. 

We ship our Flowers of Light  worldwide, with FedEx as our preferred partner. After approval and packaging, the estimated time of delivery is about 4 working days until customs clearing in the country of destination. Local taxes and duties do apply.
