”Gratitude helps us to transform our re-actions into conscious responses."
Collapsible content
Product Description
Reflecting the virtue, most often represented by the lotus flower, the design is kept simple and symmetric with three crowns of six green glass petals each. The petals are enclosed in the traditional artisanal way. The flower of gratitude is presented on its flower shaped support.
Every crown of petals is mounted on a solid brass ring, providing for alignment, and stability for the hummingbird. Lightness can only manifest on a strong foundation. The alignment of the hummingbird can be slightly altered to personal likings.
The green color represents the heart center and the simple shaped petals remind us of the simple act of saying “thank you”.
Handmade in Marrakesh
All the flowers are co-created with independent artisan ateliers in Marrakesh. The traditional techniques are integrated through-out the entire collection and all materials are sourced locally. The final assembly, finishing touch and quality control is done in-house at the Sakura Living atelier.
Different enclosure techniques are used for the glass petals. The brass petals allowed for curved shapes and a variety of different traditions, like hammering, marquetry and cuttings with a chisel and a hand saw. The brass elements (an alloy of copper, zinc & nickel) are soldered together creating a strong bond as it cools.
Although rare to find, only first quality glass is used for the collection, which is only available in 4 colors; bleu, red, amber and green.
Besides the clear glass, textured or stained glass - traditionally used for windows and doors - lended itself perfectly to represent our human conditioning.
Whats's Included
Every flower is carefully protected and packaged for shipping in a hand-made wooden box, containing the following items:
- Your selected flower with its dedicated support.
- The hovering hummingbird (fixed to one of the crowns of the flower).
- The story about the flower and meanings integrated in the design.
- A practical lighter and 6 scented t-lights.
- The Sakura guide; “Adopting the Sakura Lifestyle”.
Maintenance & Care
All the brass elements are aged, giving them the authentic look and feel. To protect the brass from oxidation and coloration, the different crowns and support are spray-finished with a high quality and transparent varnish, including the glass. This protects the artisan craftsmanship from any penetrating moist and guarantees longevity, while maintaining the glass transparency.
In dusty environments, the flowers can be cleaned with a dry cloth, as you would clean expensive sun glasses. Support each crown in one hand, and clean the individual petals with the dry cloth.

Moroccan Glass
Glassmaking in Morocco dates back from the 8th century, influenced by Moorish, Andalusian, and Berber traditions. Artisans mastered techniques of blowing, coloring, and engraving, creating pieces for mosques, palaces, and homes.
Passed down through generations, this craft blends function with beauty, preserving a luminous heritage that continues to shine in Morocco’s vibrant artisan culture.

Modular Design
Every flower was designed following the iterative process of co-creation, each time around, integrating the lessons learned, just like life.
The final design of the flowers is made of different fitting crowns. The different shaped petals are soldered on a solid brass ring, providing good alignment and stability for the hovering hummingbird.
