Product Description
Each meticulously crafted tree is a testament to collaborative artistry, born from the visionary touch of the artist, working hand-in-hand with a dozen of skilled artisans.
This harmonious process demands approximately 105 man-hours of focussed attention, ensuring every branch, leaf, and nuance emerges as a unique work of enduring beauty.
Aged brass, over 3.500 beads, and a protective finish make this piece both timeless and maintenance-free.
Rooted in the Sakura’s wisdom, it reflects life’s impermanence and beauty. The Buddha beneath symbolizes inner peace and presence. As an embodiment of the Sakura Lifestyle, this tree invites stillness, co-creation, and conscious living in our daily spaces.
Tuned to your personal taste through its lanterns, it brings light, harmony, and deeper meaning into your home. A living sculpture, it beautifies not just your space, but also your journey of transformation through nature’s ways: rooting and letting go.
Handmade in Marrakesh
The artist’s blend of different colored and sized pearls and beats is twisted together into little branches by local women working from their home.
The lanterns are co-created with our network of independent artisan ateliers.
The hummingbird and the Buddha are hand casted and finished in-house at the Sakura Living atelier.
With all the different elements at hand, the artist creates each tree in an intuitive manner. From preparing the wooden base to creating a little nest to protect the hummingbird’s eggs.
Materials used (all materials are sourced locally):
- Brass (alloy of copper and zinc) for the lanterns and the trunk and branches of the tree.
- Glass: Some of the lantern variants have stained glass.
- Pearls and beats from the “Mellah” (the jewelry souk, build in 1558) in the Medina of Marrakesh. They are traditionally used in garment decorations and jewelry.
- The precious root of the Thuja tree, from the region around Essaouira, Morocco.
Traditional techniques used:
The lanterns are handmade making use of the traditional brass cuttings with a little hand saw and hand marquetry. The rest of the process is newly inspired and done intuitively.
All of our Trees of Life are unique and numbered.

How to customize
Once you’ve found the Tree of Life that calls to you, you may select your favorite lanterns to complete the creation.
Before shipping, we’ll present you with your tree and the selected lanterns for approval. At that time, you may still decide to change the lanterns if you would like so.
On request, we can also co-create a different sized or colored tree. We kindly refer to our co-creation form to get in touch: Let's co-create.
Installation, Maintenance & Care
Installation:
After carefully unpacking all the different elements, you just need to hang the lanterns in your Tree of Life and place the Buddha underneath. No special installation is required.
Maintenance:
Your Tree of Life does not need any maintenance. The lanterns and the Buddha statue are spray finished with a high quality, high transparency varnish. This way, all the artisanal craftsmanship is protected and prevents the brass from de-colorization.
All the used metal and brass for the trunk and the branches are aged and varnished by hand by the artist.
Care:
Over time, in dusty environments, you may rinse the tree with a water spray and air dry with a basic blow dryer.

Authenticity
Each of our co-creations is marked with our Sakura Living stamp of authenticity.
“Be yourself” seems like the simplest of requests, yet it is a journey of rooting and letting go. A journey of co-creation and self mastery. It’s a lifestyle we can choose to adopt.

Patience and Persistence
Pearl by pearl, the tree slowly arises out of the precious thuja root. The vibrations of patience and persistence combined bring us in touch with the present moment, where they no longer serve us.
How would life look like if our choices were grounded in that moment?
