Product Description

Our early life strategies to obtain what we wanted and needed from our parents, intertwines with our beliefs about kindness.

As adults, these unconscious strategies holds us from true liberation and can result in various unhealthy behaviors. Kindness is an act we firstly have to apply to ourselves, but what does that actually mean?

The presence of this chandelier, invites to slowly unravel our unconscious strategies of kindness. It brings awareness and expands our consciousness.

The context and the story about kindness, all of the other virtues and the process of divine co-creation are presented in the Sakura guide, “Adopting the Sakura Lifestyle”.

Besides the presented story of kindness, any three flowers can be chosen from the Virtues of Creation collection.

Handmade in Marrakesh

Every elements of these chandeliers are the fruits of our close collaboration with independent artisan ateliers in Marrakesh. The finishing touch and quality control of all the different elements is done in-house at the Sakura Living atelier. The creation and tuning of your chandelier is done by the artist himself in collaboration with your inputs.

Materials used:

  • Brass (alloy of copper and zinc) and maillechort (alloy of copper, zinc & nickel).
  • Glass: only the uncommon, first quality glass is used for our collections. It is available in four colors: bleu, red, amber and green. Besides this clear glass, we also use sanded glass and stained glass in several colors (see the Virtues of Creation collection).
  • Root of the Thuja tree:  the base of the lotus chandeliers are made out of the precious root of the thuja tree.

Traditional techniques used:

Different traditional techniques are integrated through-out the entire collection. These techniques include brass marquetry, cuttings with a chisel or with a small hand saw, hammering and shaping the brass elements. The brass is either soldered by flame of with a basic tool, heated above a small gas fire.

As all the elements are handmade and different flowers can be selected for each chandelier, small variations in dimensions and weight may apply. All dimensions and weight is mentioned as shown with the selected flowers and the dodecahedron.

Many hands are part of this process of co-creation and all this diversity combined, results in all unique expressions of light. It is a celebration of our human nature.

Installation, Maintenance & Care

Installation:

The modular design provides for easy installation of your chandelier. After unpacking the different elements, the roots and the leaf are easily fitted into the base of the chandelier. This design also allows for tuning and presenting your chandelier slightly different by rotating the different elements. Once your chandelier is mounted, you can place your chosen flowers to complete it.

Maintenance:

All the brass elements are aged, giving them the authentic look and feel. After complete inspection, all of the elements (including the flowers)  are spray-finished with a high quality, high transparent varnish. This protect the brass from oxidation and coloration, while maintaining transparency and the glossy finish. It also protects all of the artisanal craftsmanship.

This exceptional attention for detail results in a maintenance free, all handmade, luxuries interior decoration. It is unseen in the artisan community.

In dusty environments, the different elements and the flowers can be dusted off with a dry cloth.

Care:

The precious thuja wood was nurtured with the local olive oil. Once in a while you may buff the base of the chandelier with a little bit of oil. Any household oil will do.

The Root of the Thuja Tree

The Thuja tree, a type of aromatic cedar native to Morocco, holds a special place in the country’s craftsmanship traditions.

This wood is rare due to its limited natural range, primarily found in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.

The base of the Lotus Chandeliers is made of the precious root of the Thuja tree.

Light & Harmony

Balancing the five elements, or energies of life according to the ancient practice of Feng Shui, was part of the designing the Lotus Chandeliers.

These energies combined (fire, earth, metal, water, and wood) provide the transmission of harmony into your home.
